Bridgend Male Choir: The choir agreed to the creation of a new membership grade at their Annual General Meeting.

The award of ‘Honorary Member’ was created to recognise the significan­t contributi­ons made in the support of the choir over a number of years.

In recognitio­n of their unfailing efforts in raising significan­t funds for the choir over many years the award was granted to Pauline Thomas and John Keene.

Pauline also holds the honour of becoming Bridgend Male Choir’s first ever female member.

It was also with great pleasure that David Burt was also granted ‘Honorary Membership’ for his work over the years in promoting and supporting the choir.

David has held several offices in the Choir including vice-chairman, Media officer and chair of the music sub-committee as well as mentoring and supporting probatione­rs.

Bridgend Lions Club: Members are now collecting books for their annual Charity Book Fair.

Please drop off books at Westward Community Centre, Cefn Glas, on Sunday mornings between 10.30am11.30am or on weekday mornings at Aberkenfig Welfare Hall from 10.30am onwards.

Sandville: The SelfHelp Centre’s Annual Thanksgivi­ng Service will be held on Sunday, February 4 at All Saints Church, Porthcawl at 3pm.

Refreshmen­ts will be held later at the Sandville Centre, Ton Kenfig. All are very welcome.

Bridgend & District Local History Society: The next Bridgend & District Local History Society meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 14 at 7pm at Carnegie House (old Library), Wyndham Street where Roger Morgan will be giving a talk on the Whitechape­l Murders.

Visitors are welcome (a £2 entry fee applies).

Hospital Christian Fellowship Service: The Hospital Christian Fellowship Service for Friday, February 9 will be led by Penny Williams from Penyfai.

The service will take place in the Princess of Wales Hospital Chapel at 3pm.
