BRIDGEND A ................. 4 SWANSEA CITY B ......... 1

BRIDGEND A got a rocking promotion boat back on an even keel with this comfortable victory over Swansea City B at Pencoed Comprehensive School.

Having lost their last two league matches – the last one to table-topping Whitchurch C – this was more like it from the Ravens.

A ninth league win with three draws from 15 matches consolidated second spot albeit 11 points adrift of Whitchurch C who have completed one more game.

But significantly with third-placed Neath going down 2-1 at home to Gwent A, it strengthened Bridgend’s hold on the second promotion spot.

The gap between Bridgend A and Neath is now seven points from an identical 15 completed fixtures.

This Saturday, Bridgend a 4-0 drubbing at Ynyshir Albion out of their system.

On Saturday they travel to Ton & Gelli Boys Club - and matches at this venue are never a bed of roses.

And Ton will be looking to complete a league double having gained a slender 1-0 win at Felindre Road back on October 14.

Goals have bordered on collector’s items for Pencoed this term, and have only scored 44 times in all competitions.

Big Ben Treharne has struck eight times along with Marc Turner while Richie Lewis has a magnificent seven.

Keegan Alexander and Nathan Bryn are on the four-mark – one in front of Griffith Williams – and with two goals against their name are Jordan Burrows, Lewis Butler, Declan Howe and Mason Roach.

Single strikes have come from free-scoring nimble Adam Brimble and Jack Hopkins.

Bottom-placed Llangynwyd Rangers weren’t on last weekend’s fixture-list, and they hope to resume at home to Canton Liberal Club on Saturday. the game kicking off at 7.45pm.

Back in October, the SWFA opened their seasonal campaign with a 4-1 win over Gwent.
