NATHANIEL CARS WELSH LEAGUE PREVIEW

-

CAERAU have announced new dates for two recent home matches that were postponed in Division Three, writes Tony Poole.

The Riverboaters are looking to avoid a fixture pileup, and in view of that they will now host Newport City a week tonight (Wednesday).

This forms a third attempt to get the fixture done and dusted, as it was called off during the Christmas period and last month.

And the new date to entertain league newcomers Neuadd Wen is now March 7.

But before manager Adrian Shearan plans for these games their next two fixtures are on Friday nights.

This Friday they head to Llandarcy Park to take on relegation-threatened Ynysygerwn.

This will form a first meeting of the season between the clubs, as the Riverboat clash on November 4 was postponed owing to the wet state of the ground.

And on Friday week they entertain another club looking to climb out of relegation trouble in Ely Rangers.

Caerau took the reverse November fixture at Station Road, 3-2, on the back of a hat-trick from now injured top scorer Jack Page.

He’s got 10 of their 33 goals in all competitions, and heads nearest challenger Lewis Kingdon by two goals.

On the five-mark is the prince of strikers Robbie Walters while Scott South has hit the target four times and ox in the box Joel Joseph twice.

Single strikes have gone against the names of Nathan Daniel, Paul Evans, golden boy Dale Price and Ryan Jones.

Meanwhile, Llantwit Major, who were looking forward to a derby clash at Dinas Powys last weekend only for it to be postponed, welcome Pontardawe Town to Windmill Lane this Saturday.

This will form a first league meeting between the clubs – and they will go into this clash level on 28 points.

However, the Swansea Valley side have played a massive six more games than the Windmillers, who face another hectic end to a campaign.

In all competitions this winter they have hit the target 33 times with Rob Jones once more leading marksman with 11 strikes.

A long way back is fourgoal man Kristian Smith, and he’s one in front of Sam Snaith and Shaun Barney-Williams.

On the two-goal mark are four players – Joshua Jones, Lee Jones, Joshua Morgan and Rhys Llewellyn – and on one apiece are gone but not forgotten Luke Cox, Glyndwr Davies, Connor Goldsworthy and Craig Reddy (now Merthyr Town).
