Mayor’s Charity: On Saturday, February 17, the Celtic club in Garth, Maesteg were hosts of Mayor Idris Williams’ charity fund raising year. Maesteg male voice choir were the entertainers for the evening and delighted the audience with a wonderful array of music which went down extremely well with the large audience and supporters of the charity.

During the first quarter the choir entertained with six traditional Welsh hymns which were well appreciated by the audience who then went on to play a session of Bingo and a musical quiz which even some members of the choir joined in, helping to raise funds for the charity, while compere Huw’s humour and participation with the audience always goes down extremely well.

The second quarter began with the choir singing more of a musical theatre set before the interval, when the choir and guests enjoyed an excellent buffet.

Finally the choir finished off the concert with four new pieces which were performed for the first time by the choir and were enjoyed by the audience and the choristers themselves.

The musical director of the choir reminded the audience that on Saturday, May 12, the choir’s annual concert will be at the Maesteg town hall with the acclaimed Shan Cothi performing.

A word about the choir’s musical team – since coming together to take over the reins both musical director Huw Morgan and accompanist Laura Deenik have really blended together and have a wonderful working partnership, which is bringing the best out of the choir.
