PENYBONT .................... 5 PONTYCLUN ................. 3

PENYBONT came from two goals behind at half time to rescue maximum points last Friday night during this West Division clash with Pontyclun at

A sixth Bont win from 15 league starts with two drawn led to them ending the night in seventh spot.

The Ivor Park side, who hold a lofty fourth place in the table, led after a quarter of an hour through a Sean Richards free kick that drifted in. Rachel Price and Catrin O’Connell.

The problematic goalkeeping was heaped on eventual match winner Natalie Rees for the first half with Connie Milton handed the gloves for the second session.

Bont had much the better of a goalless opening half with shots going in on goal from Ashton Morgan, De Mott, Struthers and Megan Jones.

Natalie Rees then went into midfield for the second half, and she provided calmed authority.

Though De Mott broke through on a few occasions without making the ly on - that said Rawlings showed up well.

Rob Jones and Rhys Llewellyn both went close, but even with Caldy down to 10 men little changed.

It was 0-0 at the changeover and the home side then did well to patch up their defence.

And as time dragged on, Caldy seemed to realise Llantwit had run out of ideas and they could card a win in adversity.

This scenario then unfolded, as Connah Hughes gave them a 67th-minute lead – and six minutes later Landsdown kept Llantwit in the game with his blinding penalty save.

Despite the let-off, the Windmillers failed to rally during the closing stages, and slid to a bitterly disappointing second league defeat of the campaign.

Both defeats have come at the hands of Caldy, who triumphed 3-1 at Windmill Lane back on November 11.

Llantwit Major will now be hoping for better things this Saturday when they head to Aberdare Town in the league.

The on-fire wide man decided to take his son to Disneyland in Paris, allowing Broom to brush in two first-half goals that left the men from the Welsh capital on a wing and a prayer.

Though there was no way back for the Bute boys they defended obstinately to make it muted celebra-

They doubled the lead eight minutes later via Kieran Sheehy with the Bridgend super club responding on the half-hour mark with a penalty from Evan Denscombe.

But in the approach to half time, Sammy Shilton eased Pontyclun into a comfortable 3-1 advantage.

Into the second period big breakthrough, Bont were now in the box seat.

And after Megan Jones almost scored, the goal that eventually separated the sides stemmed from an Ashton Morgan corner.

It honed in on the potent head of Natalie Rees, who nodded a powerful into the back of the net.

But with Bont unsure whether one goal would be enough, they looked for another without success.

However, with a strong defence in which Cerys Feeley and Katie Davies starred, one goal was enough to book a semifinal place in another cup tournament. tions for new Blandy messiah Nigel Jordan.

Star defender Kristian Evans returned to the goal-scorer’s column for a first time since September when he netted in the significant 4-1 home win over third-placed FC Cwmaman.

And the final goal for the Blandy boys went against and Matt Symons got Bont back into the mix, and it wasn’t long before his brother Rob scored to make it level-pegging on 3-3 after 65 minutes.

And in a complete reversal of fortunes, another Rob Symons goal gave the Bridgend super club the lead for a first time.

Next up for Garw is an away league fixture on Saturday against Tonyrefail Boys Club. Borge then protected the tenuous lead before they put the points to bed approaching time.

They won a second penalty of the game, but on this occasion Denscombe hit the foot of a post.

But shortly afterwards Matt Symons made things safe with his second goal of the night. in the competition, Cornelly United, have been paired at home with Navi Treharris FC.
