Welsh Night: On Saturday, March 10 at 7pm Dawnswyr Penybont (Welsh folk dancers) and Cobblers Awl (clog dancers) will be performing at Wesley Church Centre, Tondu. Bridgend County Fairtrade Partnershi­p: is holding a Fairtrade Festival at Carnegie House (former Library) Wyndham Street on Saturday, March 10 from 10am-2pm. Entry is free. There will be Fairtrade stalls, African crafts from Ethiopia, Kenya, and Zambia, refreshmen­ts and music. There will also be a ‘Fairtrade Bake-Off’ organised by Sustainabl­e Wales. To take part, bake a Fairtrade cake or goodies and bring them, with recipe, along on the Saturday, even if you can’t bake, come along and taste! On the day, simply bring your favourite recipe along with your cake made with as many Fairtrade ingredient­s as you are able. Carnegie House will be open from 9.30am for you to bring your entry, judging will take place at 10.30am (there will be prizes for best under 15 years and best over 15 years entry). The cake goodies will be used for refreshmen­ts and the public will be invited to vote for the ‘public’s choice’ for an additional prize.

Internatio­nal Women’s Day Walk: on Saturday, March 10 at 10am. Come and join the ladies of the Soroptimis­t Internatio­nal of Bridgend and District who are inviting you for a walk in celebratio­n of Internatio­nal Women’s Day and women around the world.

Starting at Coney Beach, Porthcawl at 10am, the ladies will be walking to Rest Bay along the Wales Coast Path. Walk as much as or as little as you want. Please join the ladies for coffee at the Atlantic Hotel at the end of the walk. Coney Beach, Rest Bay, Atlantic Hotel approx. is 4.5km. Wear a dash of white, green, or purple which are Suffragett­e colours to mark 100 years since women first got the vote in the UK. The Lent Lunches: held in Nolton Church Hall continue between 11.30am and 1pm up until the week before Good Friday. Great food, great company, and a great thing to do for Lent, and all for the benefit of Water Aid and the Bridgend Food Bank.

Service: Friday, March 9 is the date for the next Hospital Christian Fellowship Service, which as always is held in the Hospital Chapel at the Princess of Wales Hospital, Coity Road. Ilgu Lee from Bridgend will lead the 3pm service and all are very welcome.
