Blaengarw C.C.: Congratula­tions to Lloyd Chambers who, in the recent Blaengarw Cricket Club A.G.M, was voted to captain the Darren Park outfit for the second season running this summer.

Pontycymer R.F.C.: Next up for Pontycymer rugby club is a trip to the coast. On Saturday, March 3 they will be travelling to South Road, Porthcawl where they will face the Seagulls in a division three west central encounter.

The match has a kick off time of 2.30pm.

Valley Ravens: It’s great to see so many children turning up for the mini rugby training sessions at the Garw Valley Sports Centre which are being held every Wednesday evening from 6pm-7pm.

Five new players signed up for the Valley Ravens last week, which is excellent news for future rugby stars from the Garw and Ogmore Valleys.

Bryngarw Park Volunteer Group: On Saturday, March 3, from 10am - 2pm, Bryngarw Park Volunteer Group will be getting the Nature Garden ready for the year ahead.

The group will be meeting outside the coffee shop so please come along and help them tidy this beautiful area of the park, with efforts rewarded by a fire and toasted marshmallo­ws in the Roundhouse.

Tools and training are provided for all volunteer events. Please wear suitable clothing and bring a packed lunch. All children under 16 must be accompanie­d by an adult.

Birthday Concert: Mrs Helena Charles will be 100 years old in March. In celebratio­n of this, the Bridgend Male Voice Choir will be holding a concert for her in Tabernacle Chapel on Friday, March 9. The compère for this event will be Huw Edwards from the BBC.

Tickets for the concert cost £5 and can be obtained from members
