GOCREA8 HOCKEY

-

EVEN hockey played on artificial pitches was hit last weekend by the icy blast, writes Tony Poole.

All matches involving Bridgend were called off owing to a combination of dangerous playing surfaces and travel problems.

Bridgend were due to host Ross-on-Wye last Saturday, and this game must now be played on or before March 25.

So, the situation re- mains the same for Bridgend in their quest of the De Cymru & The Marches One title.

With three matches to go, they remain four points clear of Leominster, and this Saturday Bridgend host Cleevillians while Leominster enter- tain Cardiff Metropolitan University C.

If Bridgend win and Leominster lose then the Ravens will be crowned champions – but given events this season it’s an unlikely scenario.

Considering inster have won Leomall 10 home matches, they will start warm favourites against the knowledgeable Students.

That would then take the situation into the next round of fixtures on March 17 involving Bridgend away to Yate and Leominster journeying to Cirencester.

But while Bridgend and Leominster have both won promotion to Conference North for next season, they are vying to reach the Promised Land as champions.

Other Bridgend league fixtures read:

De Cymru One: Swansea University B v Bridgend A.

De Cymru Two: Bridgend B v Whitchurch D.

De Cymru Three: Whitchurch v Bridgend C. this Saturday F
