Burst water main forces schools to close doors
A BURST water main has led to supplies being cut off and the closure of two schools.
Bottled water is being handed out in communities north of Maesteg which either have no water or low water pressure.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water said the complex nature of the repair means it might not be fixed before Tuesday morning, but every effort is being made to complete it sooner if possible
Caerau and Nantyffyllon primary schools were forced to close on Monday morning as they had no water.
A Welsh Water spokesman said: “We are currently dealing with a burst water main which has affected the drinking water supplies in the Cymmer area.
“As a result, we know that customers in Cymmer and the surrounding areas of Caerau and Croeserw may be experiencing problems with their water supplies. This will include no water or low water pressure. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing.
“We are currently tankering water into the network to maintain drinking water supplies to as many customers as possible and delivering bottled water to vulnerable customers.”
