A LEAGUE

IN THE clash between the top two, the Seahorse put on a fantastic team performanc­e to cut Pyle RFC B’s lead at the top of the A League to five points.

The Horsemen raced into a 3-0 lead with threes wins for Roger Moore, Martin Cavill and Paul Davies plus Lee Bowen, Stuart Kilpatrick and Dan Edwards with Cavill and Edwards winning their pairs with a 180 for Cavill.

The RFC fought back with pairs wins for Anthony Williams and Hayden Thomas plus Paul Green and Lee Harben-Jones. In the singles, Cavill and Davies put the Seahorse on the brink of victory but a 17-darter from Paul Green kept the RFC in it. Stuart Kilpatrick hit the winning double for the Seahorse before a win for the in-form Jarrad Vanagas earned a point for the club. A win for Lee Bowen finished the game at 7-4 to the Seahorse. In the fours, the RFC extended their lead to three points over the Seahorse with a 2-1 win.

The Prince A leapfrogge­d Pyle Legion A in the league table after a 7-4 win. The threes were shared with a Prince win for Ian Pugh, Mark Salkeld and Gary Williams and a Legion win for John Tossell, Stefon Coombs and Steve Larner. In the pairs Andrew Harman and Mike Clarke made it 2-1 to the Prince before Tossell and Coombs levelled it. The Cohen father-son duo of Rob and Gareth put the Prince ahead going into the singles. There, Harman and Pugh made it 5-2 to the Prince followed by Steve Lloyd keeping the Legion in it but two wins for Rob Cohen and Gary Williams put the game to bed. John Tossell hit a consolatio­n for the Legion. In the fours, the Legion gained a measure of revenge with a 2-1 win.

The RAFA caused an upset with a 7-3 win over the Swan A. The RAFA raced into a 4-0 lead with threes wins for Chris Prescott, Evan Jones and Josh Prescott followed by Adrian Watkins, Stuart Williams and Bob Adams and the tandems of the Prescotts and Evan Jones and the welcome return of Dai Carter. The Swan finally got off the mark with a pair win for Stuart Atherton and Brian Edwards.

In the singles, Atherton reduced to the deficit to 4-2 before Chris Prescott put the RAFA on the brink of victory. Mark Thompson pulled another back from the Swan before Evan Jones gained the victory for the RAFA. Paul Davies gained another point for the Swan before Carter hit double number 7 for the RAFA. In the fours, the Swan hit back with a 2-1 win.

B LEAGUE

THE USC raced to the top of the B League with a stunning 11-0 demolition of the Ancient Briton.

The septet of Dai Thomas, John Aubrey, Graham Lewis, Ray James, Dai Pritchard, Steve Lloyd and Dean Baker all hitting the winning double. In the fours, the onslaught continued with a 3-0 win.

The Prince C fell to second spot despite a 6-5 win over Breeze. Tony Phillips, Danny Thomas and Keith Morgan put Breeze ahead with an equaliser by the Prince three of Paul Denyer, Stuart Davies and Eurion Griffiths. The Prince took over in the pairs with wins for Jason Perkins/Ian Mundy, Andrew Heaton/ Phil Mundy and Shaun Kelly/Paul Denyer.

In the singles, Tony Phillips cut the Prince lead to 4-2. Stuart Davies put the Prince on the cusp of victory but Breeze hit back with three straight wins for Martyn Bishop, Danny Thomas and George Howells sending the game into a decider. There, Shaun Kelly hit the winning double for the Prince.

C LEAGUE

THE Prince B took another step to the league title with a 7-4 win over the Pier.

The Prince went flying in to a 5-0 lead with threes wins for Kris Morgan, Nathan Davis and Jason Evans as well as Alex Hopson, Kyle Buckley and Gavin Brown. The same six then all won their pairs legs.

The Pier then staged a fantastic recovery with singles wins for Kyle James, Ron Jenkins, Shane Thomas and Ralph James. The Prince though finished the game with a win for Alex Hopson and Darran Scott. In the fours, the Prince took another step towards a league double with a 3-0 win.

The Royal Oak cemented their place in second spot with a 7-4 win over the Sandpiper A. The Pipers led with Cameron Mainwaring, David Williams and John Samuel winning but the Oak hit back with Mike Clark, Steve Owen and Andrew Ridley. In the pairs, Des Jones and Martin Parry put the Oak 2-1 up before Owen and Leighton Williams made it three. Connor Bluck and Richard Hoare made it 3-2 going into the singles.

Clarke made it 4-2 to the Oak before Mainwaring kept the Piper one step behind. Wins though for Williams and Billy Absa- lom won the game for the Oak. Dylan McKay made it four for the Sandpiper but the final word went to Steve Knight of the Oak. In the fours, the Pipers dusted themselves down and took a 2-1 victory.

The New Brogden moved into third spot with a 7-4 win over the Sandpiper B. The Brogden took two threes wins for Mark Evans, Clayton Dodd and Phil Truelove followed by Mal Gillet, Colin Deakin and Ted O’Keefe. In the pairs, Conner Jones and Rob Passmore got the Pipers going followed by a win for Barry Rees and Nick Jones. Gillet and O’Keefe made it 3-2 going into the singles.

Evans, Deakin and O’Keefe won their singles to win the game for the Brogden. Nick Jones hit a consolatio­n for the Pipers before wins for Will Walker and Clayton Dodd put the game to bed. In the fours, the Brogden were again on-song with a 3-0 win.

Pyle Legion B needed a last-leg decider to see off a plucky Buccaneer side. Ben Davies, Curtis Richards and Lynsey Evans started the tally with Joel Richards, Ricky Tame and Gerald Kelly making it 2-0. In the pairs, wins for Tony Power and John Stacey as well as Dan Harman and Dan Merchant levelled it. Anthony Rees and Terry Cutis put the Bucc’ ahead going into the singles. In the singles, Tame and Joel Richards put the Legion ahead 4-3 but Tony Power restored parity, Curtis Richard put the Legion within one of victory but Tony Power sent the game into a decider. It was there Keith Grabham won the game for the Legion. In the fours, the Bucc’ took their turn for victory with a 2-1 win.
