LEAGUE

THE VETZ wrapped up the league on Friday as they came from the Inn with a 5-4 victory, allthough at one stage the Inn were 4-2 up.

Mike Huntley hit his 8th 180 plus 14 and 16-dart legs, and Billy Absolam nailed a 116 finish. For the Inn, John Hillman hit a 180 and Mark Lewis a 16-dart leg as well as dad Chris Hillman getting an 18-darter.

Blaengarw Rug finished in second place again, and suffered their second defeat in as many weeks as they lost 5-4 at the Con. The home team took two pairs through Clive Carpy and Dai Frowen then Dai Davies and Gary Acreman with Steve Dent and Paul Williams taking one for the Rug. The singles were then shared with Davies, Frowen, with a 180, and Steve Wright winning for the Con, and Phil Rice, Will Struthers and Peter Jones replying for the Rug. Rob Shop also hit a 180 for the Con.

The third and fourth finishers in the league, the Social and Nanty Rug met at the Social, and the home side prevailed 5-4. Bleddyn Lyons and Chris Packman, then John Picton and Steve Bowen took two pairs for the home team and Johns Collins and Clayton one for the Rug, hitting 16 and 19dart legs.

The singles were then shared with Packman, Nick Winn and Shaun Keepin, with a 110 finish, winning for the Social, and Collins, with his 13 maximum, Clayton and Andrew Williams, who hit a 180 plus 16 and 19-dart legs, for the Rug.

The Odds beat the Blaen 6-3 with Steven Thomas hitting a 180 and Paul Jones a 15-darter for the Odds, and Scott Evans an 18-darter and Chris Hanford a 117 finish for the Blaen.

The other fixture of the night was cancelled as the Junction pulled out of their game at the Colliers.

This Friday is the final week of the league with the singles and presentati­ons being held at Blaengarw Rug, where we’re expecting some outstandin­g darts again as John Collins fights to retain his crown.
