On 104 points are Penybont Football club who were home to the Pencoed Social A, on 100 points. It was 3-3 at the end of the singles but Penybont went on to take two doubles for the 5-4 win. A bad night for the United Services club, who were home to the West House A and could only manage one single and one double, giving West House a 7-2 win and taking them to 99 points. West House B, currently on 103 points, had a convincing win against the Coity Castle (formerly the Railway club). They took five singles and all three of the doubles for the 8-1 home win, with Lisa Dowsett of the Coity Castle winning the first of the singles to save a whitewash and prevent West House from a bonus point. Despite being a player short, the Cabo Roche won their third game of the season when they had a 5-4 home win against the White Horse.

It was least said the better, for the Two Brewers who were away to the Pencoed Social B who won 7-2. Taking the first five singles Pencoed had the game won but the Two Brewers’ secret weapon was yet to play in the form of veteran player Audrey Jones. Audrey won her game against Deborah Roberts and stopped a whitewash but Pencoed took the next two doubles with Helen Hillier and Kay Sebburn winning the last double for the Brewers. The Five Bells had a bye.

BRIDGEND & DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE

WITH Division Two finishing their season last week all eyes were on the battle at both ends of the table in Division One.

The battle for runnersup spot will go down to final game next week with just one point separating the Coity B and the Social after this week’s results.

The Social, lying in third, were at home to the Five Bells, who are themselves involved in a battle for points to avoid relegation. All-square after the threes the Social forged ahead taking all the pairs to lead 4-1 at the break.

Steve Bowen and Chris Packman put the home side 6-1 in front claiming the first two singles legs before the Bell men pulled two legs back through Graham Hayter and Lee Hapgood to make the score 6-3 with John Picton and Nick Winn ensuring victory went to the Social as they claimed the next two. Two sides involved in the dog fight at the bottom of the table faced one another as the Colliers played host to the Coity A. All-square after the threes the Coalmen edged the pairs to lead 3-2 after the opening exchanges.

It was a cagey affair in the singles as the Colliers claimed two legs through B McGlinchey and Tony Gronow and the Coity replying as Gerwyn Haris and Andrew Phillips claimed the next two.

Victories for Andrew Hermoile and Mathew Martin made sure victory went to the Colliers 7-5 with Andrew James hitting a 180 as he took the final leg for the Coity A.
