CADOXTON BARRY ..... 3 GARW ............................. 4

PROMOTION-SEEKING Garw overturned a midweek wobble at Tonyrefail to come from behind and pip Cadoxton Barry, writes Tony Poole.

The Blandy boys, who last week slid to a 2-0 loss at Tonyrefail, again looked in trouble when Cadoxton led 2-0 at the break.

And this was all the more surprising, as five days earlier Cadoxton were taken to the cleaners at Porthcawl, losing 9-0.

But whatever new Blandy boss Nigel Jordan said to his troops during the break could become a new inspirational tool.

Garw were energised on the resumption, and went on win the day on the back of two-goal hero Harry Davies, giving him eight goals for the campaign.

His twin brother Oliver also netted, and there was a 14th of the season from well oiled Blandy goal machine Damian Barnard.

Garw, who were due to host Cogan Coronation last night (Tuesday), are again at Blandy on Saturday, welcoming Aber Valley on this occasion.

That will leave two remaining games – both away involving Cogan Coronation (May 12) and Clwb Cymric (May 15).

However, they remain locked in a battle with Cefn Cribwr, Trebanog and FC Cwmaman for the three promotion spots.

Turning to the Celtic Tyres Bridgend & District League Division One, Llangeinor won 6-2 over Garw at Blandy.

New Grogg sensation D G Lloyd was spotted in the posh seats, as his chum John Lewis seemingly had stored up a big display.

But the pressure got to Lewis, who played over 350 games for the Llan lads, and by his high standards he had a quiet game.

A Mike Smith goal sent Llan in front, but that only served to wake up Thomas Day, cousin of prize Ponty potter Ryan Day.

It led to timeless performer Karl Miller, who got both home goals, making it 1-1, but Liam Hughes gave Llan back the lead and they dominated the second half to card a comfortable win. MAESTEG Park Football Club recently staged a presentation ceremony to reward two talented young players, writes Tony Poole.

Both Keane Watts and Alex Walters have won favour with the Boys Clubs of Wales selectors.

Keane, who is a regular member of the Maesteg Park first team up top, YOUNG striker Jorge Crofts last week broke the Porthcawl Town goalscoring record that had stood for 21 years, writes Tony Poole.

The ex-Penybont striker scored five times in a 9-0 win over Cadoxton Barry to move on to 37 goals for the season and better by two goals the Philip Lyons feat during the 1996/97 season.

In fairness to Lyons his goals came in a different era, and they jettisoned the Seasiders into the Promised Land that was at the time Welsh League Division One.
