MAESTEG CELTIC ...... 43 CWMGORS ................... 26

CELTIC’S first try came when full back James Dixon drew the defence and passed to second row Alex Jones who then put wing Sam Mines clear. Sam was stopped short of the line but the ball was spun wide from the ruck and Dixon gave Alex Jones a clean run in to touch down. Matthew Harris converted.

Celtic’s second try came as a result of a fine penalty kick to the corner by outside half Luke Richards. The pack pounded the Cwmgors line before No 8 Ryan Jones powered over to touch down. Cwmgors fought back and evened the score with two excellent tries of their own. Celtic ended the half with their third magnificent try. Luke Richards put centre Mathew Harris through a gap and he passed to wing Sam Mines. He jinked inside and beat three men before passing back to Harris. Ever present flanker Jonathan Davies was on hand to finish the move off.

A Celtic player was yellow carded early in the second half but this did not deter the home side. Jumper Mark Hillier-Rees won a lineout in the visitors’ 22 and the pack drove to the line. They were held up short and hooker Ashley Poole released the ball for flanker Callum Bowen to dive over the try line. Harris converted.

Cwmgors retaliated with their third try before captain Oliver Petty scored his 10th try of the season when he drove over in the corner from a scrum.

Petty started the move that lead to Celtic’s sixth try when he rampaged up the touchline before passing to Leon Evans who passed inside to the inform Kristian Jenkins. He was stopped short but the man of the match Mark Hillier-Rees was on hand to score. Luke Richards converted.

A few minutes later Cwmgors were rewarded with a bonus-point try of their own. The game concluded with Celtic’s try number seven. Leon Evans ran from a scrum and found Kristian Jenkins arriving at pace. He cut through the defence to touch down under the posts.
