LLOYD Dowling topped the Club Championsh­ip leaderboar­d once the aggregate scores were released at Coed-yMwstwr.

Rounds of 76 and 78 gave him a gross tally of 154 and he finished two shots in front of Matthew Richards (79, 77).

The remaining top-10 places were taken by Gary Dowling 73, 83 = 156, Elliot Williams 72, 84 = 156, Jeffrey Pound 81, 77 = 158, Jonny Witts 78, 80 = 158, Andrew Hill 77, 83 = 160, Barry Lewis 80, 82 = 162, Sean Boga-Lake 82, 81 = 163, Steve O’Connell 81, 82 = 163 and Steve Terrett 80, 83 = 163.

Jamie Brown headed Division Two via 81, 84 = 165.

Last Saturday Leyton Bennetta and Barry Lewis triumphed in the Jan Bekker Cup with 34 points.

They finished two points in front of both Kirk Norris and Julian Rudd together with Gary Dowling and Huw Martinson.

On the Senior scene at Bryn Road, Tony Lang swept to victory with 40 Stableford points in the weekly event.

A two on the eighth hole along with a further birdie on the next hole plus four pars got the job done for the 18-handicappe­r.

Just one point back came Graham Cartwright (seven pars) while Glyn Price shot par 36.

Thinking man’s golfer Alan Donovan gained a shock fourth spot on 35 points to finish one point to the good over three men – Russell Gower, bandit Barrie Rowlands and Eric Williams.

The remaining top-10 places then went to three players with 33 points – David Evans, Dai Maesteg-Thomas and Glyn Jackman.

Arthur Cole fired 32 points to signal a return to something like his best while D R Stead shot a steady 29 points.

Just one other two went on the scorecards, and it came from Trevor Duggan on the 11th green.

Finally, Julie Davies won a GUW Medal last Saturday, shooting 86-1670 with a birdie on hole nine and six pars.

Runner-up Janet Rob- erts got 101-26-75 while Sian Hooper scored 10931-78.
