Opening of new post office marks 100th partnership branch
THE new post office at Cefn Glas in Bridgend has opened its doors.
The launch marks the 100th branch in the Post Office’s partnership with Blakemore Retail, which operates Spar convenience stores across Wales and central England.
The new branch at the at the Spar store on Llangewydd Road is open from 7am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 10.30pm on Sunday.
The opening hours have increased by an extra 74 hours a week.
Cefn Glas store manager Sean Barry said: “The new post office has been really well received by customers. It was previously based next door and Blakemore bought the unit and incorporated it.
“It’s great that we provide such a vital service to the community and it feels very special to be the 100th branch.”
Network development director Tom Moran joined Blakemore retail regional manager Mark Podmore, Laleston Community Council chairman Tony Berrow and council clerk Amanda Parsons at the official launch of the 100th branch.
Tom said: “This is a fantastic milestone. Our partnership with Blakemore Retail is very important for us and we have worked closely together to modernise branches under the Network Transformation programme and to open new ones.
“It was great to meet the team at the store and see first-hand the difference the branch is already making to the community.”
Mark added: “We are delighted to open our 100th post office in our store here at Cefn Glas.
“As a community retailer, it is important we can offer local residents a wide range of post office services in our stores during shop opening hours.
“We are confident customers will be pleased with the flexibility, convenience and modernised look of the new post office.”
