New pop-up restaurant to serve seafood on the beach

THE Two Anchors, a new seafood pop-up from two of Cardiff’s best-known foodie entrepreneurs, has opened on Ogmore beach.

Set up by Dusty Knuckle pizza founder Phill Lewis and Jon White (formerly of Cardiff cafés Nine Yards) aims to create seafood dishes like you’ve never tasted before – locally sourced and cooked over a huge, cast-iron fire pit on the sand.

On the menu will be cod cheek burgers and gourmet fish finger sandwiches, fish curries, seafood risotto and simple, seasonal fish fillets.

Sides will include potatoes boiled in seawater then slow cooked in foil on the coals of the fire pit, charred babygem lettuce with garlic aioli and grilled seasonal asparagus and artichoke.

A selection of Dusty Knuckle’s signature woodfired pizzas will also be available.

“When we found out about the pitch at Ogmore, we knew we had to have it,” says Phill.

“But we didn’t just want to stick to doing pizza, we wanted to do something that was really in keeping with the location.”

His partner Jon added: “We’ll be changing the menu regularly, experimenting with different recipes and ideas, so we’re hoping people will come back to visit us more than once over the summer.

“We just can’t wait to see what people think.”

The Two Anchors will be open at Ogmore beach every weekend (weather depending) until the school summer holidays.

During the summer holidays, The Two Anchors will be open every day if it isn’t raining – you checking out the latest news on Twitter @ TheTwoAnchors
