Sex shop has its li­cence re­newed

A SEX shop in Brid­gend county has had its li­cence re­newed.

Darker En­ter­prises Lim­ited sub­mit­ted the ap­pli­ca­tion for the re­newal of the Sex Es­tab­lish­ment Li­cence for The Pri­vate Shop in Brid­gend Road, Aberken­fig.

The ap­pli­ca­tion went be­fore Brid­gend County Bor­ough Coun­cil’s li­cens­ing sub com­mit­tee on Tues­day as pow­ers have not been del­e­gated un­der the scheme of del­e­ga­tion to of­fi­cers.

Coun­cil­lors heard there were no ob­jec­tions from mem­bers of the pub­lic fol­low­ing the statu­tory re­quire­ment to ad­ver­tise the ap­pli­ca­tion and there were no rep­re­sen­ta­tions from any of the statu­tory con­sul­tees, in­clud­ing South Wales Po­lice and the town coun­cil.

As part of the li­cence re­newal process, the coun­cil’s en­force­ment of­fi­cer car­ried out an in­spec­tion of the shop and no breaches of the li­cence were iden­ti­fied.

An of­fi­cer said: “We have con­sid­ered the ap­pli­ca­tion to re­new the sex es­tab­lish­ment li­cence for Darker En­ter­prises Lim­ited.

“We have noted the pe­riod of con­sul­ta­tion un­der­taken and the ab­sence of any rep­re­sen­ta­tions from ei­ther the statu­tory con­sul­tees or from mem­bers of the pub­lic.

“We have noted the conditions at­tached to the li­cence that have been in place to date and that there have been no breaches of these conditions or any en­force­ment ac­tion.

“Hav­ing tak­ing into ac­count all the facts we are happy to re­new the li­cence on the ex­ist­ing terms and conditions.”

The of­fi­cer con­firmed Darker En­ter­prises Ltd had paid the li­cence re­newal fee of £546.

The hours of trad­ing at the shop are 9.30am to 8pm Mon­day to Satur­day and 10am to 4pm on Sun­day.

Sex es­tab­lish­ments have to re­new their li­cence ev­ery year snder Sched­ule 3 of Para­graph 12 of the Lo­cal Govern­ment (Mis­cel­la­neous Pro­vi­sions) Act 1982.
