-

A SEX shop in Bridgend county has had its licence renewed.

Darker Enterprises Limited submitted the application for the renewal of the Sex Establishment Licence for The Private Shop in Bridgend Road, Aberkenfig.

The application went before Bridgend County Borough Council’s licensing sub committee on Tuesday as powers have not been delegated under the scheme of delegation to officers.

Councillors heard there were no objections from members of the public following the statutory requirement to advertise the application and there were no representations from any of the statutory consultees, including South Wales Police and the town council.

As part of the licence renewal process, the council’s enforcement officer carried out an inspection of the shop and no breaches of the licence were identified.

An officer said: “We have considered the application to renew the sex establishment licence for Darker Enterprises Limited.

“We have noted the period of consultation undertaken and the absence of any representations from either the statutory consultees or from members of the public.

“We have noted the conditions attached to the licence that have been in place to date and that there have been no breaches of these conditions or any enforcement action.

“Having taking into account all the facts we are happy to renew the licence on the existing terms and conditions.”

The officer confirmed Darker Enterprises Ltd had paid the licence renewal fee of £546.

The hours of trading at the shop are 9.30am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Sex establishments have to renew their licence every year snder Schedule 3 of Paragraph 12 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.
