Wesley Celebratio­n: Anniversar­y celebratio­ns are being held at the Wesley Church Centre Tondu. The opening service for the church was held on June 8, 1868. To celebrate the 150th anniversar­y the following special events have been organised.

Friday, June 8 and Saturday 9 June - Flower Festival (Free Entry), 10am-3pm.

Sunday, June 10 - Anniversar­y Celebratio­n Service, 3pm.

Tuesday, June 12 - Fashion Show with Samantha B (Tickets £3), 7pm.

Friday, June 15 - Fish & Chip Supper and Beetle Drive (Entry £4.00 Small/£5.50 Large Portion Pre-Booking required), 7pm.

Saturday, June 16 - Teddy Bears Picnic and Disco, 2pm & 6.30pm.

Sunday, June 17 - All Age Worship, 10.30am.

Hon FNCM (Smyrna). The choir of Salem Baptist Chapel, Ton-yrefail

There will be a selection of popular and well-known English and Welsh hymns. This is one of the few Singing Festivals still being held in the Bridgend area so please come along and support this tradition of congregati­onal hymn singing.

The service will be followed by refreshmen­ts in the vestry to which all are welcome.

Smyrna Pen-Y-Fai: The Sunday school would like to invite the children of the surroundin­g area who are aged 4 and over to join them on Sunday morning between 10.30am-12noon for stories, singing and fun with arts and craft work.

The Sunday service is held at 6pm and is led by Pastor Trevor Jones. All are very welcome to the service and to join us for refreshmen­ts in the vestry afterwards.

Also supporting the event will be Bridgend MP Madeleine Moon.

It is planned the Carnival will be lead by 100 women wearing the Suffragett­e colours of Green, White and Violet and Ceri invited members of Soroptimis­t Bridgend to participat­e in the spectacle. It should be quite a day.

Bridgend Castle Players: Will be playing Bettws Community Club, ‘Caught on the Hop’ a comedy in two acts (play) by Bridgend Castle Players, on Thursday, June 14 and Friday, June 15, doors open 7pm, show starts 7.30pm.

The South Wales Fire Home Safety Team will also be attending to offer advice on the home safely checks that they can provide.

School Summer Fete: Cefn Cribwr Primary School will be holding its Summer Fete on Wednesday, June 20 at 2.30pm - 5pm.

A fun filled afternoon will be comprised of stalls and games, a funfair, face painting, a visit from South Wales Police and a fire engine plus scrumptiou­s refreshmen­ts and an opportunit­y to ‘soak a teacher’.

Summer Fete At St Theodore’s: St Theodore’s Church, Kenfig Hill is holding its Summer Fete and Craft Fair on Saturday, June 9. The fete which takes place in the church and grounds will start at 11am. Attraction­s include Bric a Brac, craft stalls, book, cakes, tombola, games and face painting. A new addition this year is a Memory Table, where people are invited to bring along a photograph, an object or a memory which tells the story of Kenfig Hill.

Free entry, so come and join us as we raise funds to install a new heating system in the church. each night, subject to availabili­ty. We look forward to seeing you there!
