WORK has started on 149 new homes in Llantwit Major – and the first properties are now on sale.

Persimmon Homes has made a start on its longawaited development off the town’s High Street.

The first residents are expected to move into the site, called Heritage Gate, before the end of the year.

Persimmon Homes East Wales sales director Victoria Williams said: “We are delighted to have launched this fantastic new development in Llantwit Major.

“People have been waiting for this development for a long time.

“Llantwit Major was recently voted the second most desirable place to live in Wales but the number of new homes being built has been extremely limited.

“We are expecting huge demand and we’d be delighted to show people the options we have available.”

A range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes in 10 styles will be built with prices starting at £164,995.

First time buyers are eligible to use the Government’s Help to Buy – Wales scheme, which means purchasers may only need a deposit of five per cent.

The government contributes a 20 per cent equity loan, leaving a 75 per cent mortgage.

The properties are available to buy from Chris Davies Qualified Estate Agents on East Street.

Persimmon staff will be situated at the estate agents Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 5pm, and on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
