All Saints Church: On Friday, June 8, people gathered for a service led by Phillip Morris and opening of the newly landscaped gardens surroundin­g the church in Southerndo­wn.

This building is used as a meeting place by many organisati­ons and to hold various events as well as church services, and is a great asset to the community.

Lest We Forget: The War Graves Commission has erected a pedestal marker on the grave of Billy Irvine in St Bridget’s Churchyard, St Brides Major.

Second Lieutenant William Henry Irvine of the Royal Flying Corps was killed during World War I at the age of 19.

Charity Run: Bridgend MG Owners Club held their annual Cwm to Coast run on Sunday, June 10 on a beautiful day.

Commencing at Sandville Court, Ton Kenfig, the 55 cars travelled approximat­ely 80 miles and finished at The Grove Gold Club, Porthcawl, for presentati­ons and a meal.

A wonderful day and well organised.
