Well Done: Congratulations to the organisers and those who supported the recent Marie Curie afternoon tea. A sum of £800 was raised - well done to all concerned.

Tadas Results: Tondu and District Art Society (Tadas) opened their recent exhibition with another very enjoyable and highly successful preview evening with the hall full to capacity with members and invited guests. TADAS were pleased to have the company of the Mayor of the County Borough, Councillor John McCarthy and his consort Mrs McCarthy, as well as Community Councillor Felicity Watkins. The competition on this occasion was a My Favourite Song which was judged earlier in the day by three members of Ystradyfodwg Art Society. We are grateful to Councillor McCarthy for presenting the Keith Coles Cup to the successful winner of this competition, namely Graham Anderson. It was also a pleasure to welcome the winning pupils from St. Robert’s Primary School, Aberkenfig who had participated in a similar competition that TADAS had arranged for them.

Thanks again to Councillor McCarthy for presenting the children, namely 1stCaitlin Kelpie, 2nd - Keira Tucker, Joint 3rd - Oswin Daniels and Harry Hobbs, with their individual prizes. The exhibition was open for 5 days during which there were 140 framed paintings on display as well as a number of unframed paintings and greetings cards. The painting voted Best in Show was Misty Dawn by Christopher Richards.

Contestants are requested to bake their culinary masterpiece at home and bring it to the centre on the year !

Dog Fouling: Dog fouling is still a problem in the area by irresponsible owners who either walk away from it or bag it and leave. It is hoped that excessive fines will cease this filthy practice in the future.

Overgrown Grass Verges: It is pleasing that grass verges have now been cut down alongside the footpath leading from Heol y Bardd to Broadlands and many other areas in the vicinity.

Although the cutting is far from neat, to say the least, perhaps it is better that a herd of goats wandering around doing this job ! Dog fouling and possible goat fouling is definitely a NO NO !!
