Community Grants: The Coalfields Community Grants Programme in Wales can award grants from £500 up to £7,000. Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO) has arranged one-toone appointments with Coalfields Regeneration staff at their offices in Maesteg on Monday, July 16 for voluntary groups in Bridgend County Borough to discuss their projects and ideas that the trust could fund. The programme is for community and voluntary organisations that can demonstrate strongly that a grant will impact positively on people living in the coalfield communities of Wales. Grants will be awarded for projects that can be completed within 12 months and can identify clear positive outcomes for people that can be measured.
Projects will need to meet one or more of the following themes of job creation and employment support, social enterprise development, skills and training, community buildings, tackling poverty and health and wellbeing. Smyrna Pen-Y-Fai: The Sunday school would like to invite the children of the surrounding area who are aged 4 and over to join them on Sunday morning between 10.30am-12noon for stories, singing and fun with arts and craft work.
The Sunday service is held at 6pm and is led by Pastor Trevor Jones. All are very welcome to the service and to join us for refreshments in the vestry afterwards.
Coffee morning is held on Tuesday between 10am and 12noon with good company and a raffle is also held in aid of local charities.
Bible study takes place on Thursday evening at 7.15pm and is led in turn by Mrs Marlyn James and Miss Dorithy Evans.

Spiritual Healing: Spiritual healing is offered each Tuesday from 6pm-7.30pm at the Ynysawdre Community Centre (at the junction of Bryn Road and Heol-yrYsgol).
There is no charge for the service but a small donation to help defray expenses is appreciated.

BAVO Volunteer Awards: Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO) wants to recognise and honour outstanding people and organisations that have made a significant contribution to our community during the past year and they want to hear from you!

Every year thousands of individuals and groups volunteer across Bridgend County Borough to give their time, energy, skills and commitment to help others in their community.
BAVO is holding their annual Bridgend Volunteer Achievement Awards 2018 in November at the Heronston Hotel in Bridgend, which will provide an ideal opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers in the county borough. There are eight categories including awards for charity shop of the year, befriending and mentoring, volunteers aged under and over 25 years, Trustee of the year, volunteer project of the year, sports volunteer and outstanding volunteer contribution.
