Bell Tower: The ancient stone Bell Tower from the original old school in St Brides has been repaired and is now suitably placed on a plinth just inside the current Primary School gates. The bell tower was recovered when the school that used to be on Ewenny Road (built circa 1863) was demolished and some time later given on loan for safekeeping by the local Hopkin family.

Women’s Institute: Celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Southerndown WI were held at the Church Hall which was wonderfully decorated for the occasion. The evening opened with the Bridgend Ukulele Band and refreshments were served. Members joined in the singing and dancing and a local quiz was organised. A beautifully iced cake was cut by the oldest member Joan Kinsbrook, who is 97, and everyone had a good time.
