AS the summer temperatur­es begin to soar outside, the tungsten is red hot inside as week two of the Everson’s Sports & Trophies Sponsored Merthyr Summer Darts League 2018 produced some great action as the high scoring continued with high “aways and finishing” in the games. Andrew Coombes 152 away over Mark Davies saw the hosts go 5-0 ahead. The promising Lyndon Price 115 away, 88,97 held over the experience­d Ron Davies for a 6-0 home lead which soon became 7-0 with Craig Morgan 105 breaking the battling John Pugh 100. Jamie Evans 100, 110 out held against Mark Jones in the eighth leg with Tex Pearce completing the “wash” with a hard-fought break over Brent Morgan. Meirion Evans in the first singles but the next game saw Kevin Roberts break Gareth Dunn to put a point on the board for the home side with Iory Haines then claiming a great hold over Chris Galleozzie to halve the deficit to two points.

Ron Morgan with a 12-dart leg of 68 away, 140,54,139 out then held over Andrew Morgan to put the Labour Clun 5-2 ahead which then became 6-2 with David Rowlands 140 breaking Trad Davies. The final leg went the way of the home side with Ray Williams breaking Jason Baynham to put a vital third point on the board for the hosts. gles with a good hold over Michael Bond 2x100 & Phil Bond in a hard fought leg with missed doubles costing the hosts dear.

The first singles saw the Pen make a mark with Michael Bond 2x100 holding over Jonathon Davies in fine style as the Con man still waits for his first singles win of the season. A great second singles saw Myrffryn Hughes 100 out edge past Richard Beynon 100 with a break to put the visitors 4-1 ahead which then became 5-1 with Chris Stansfield 100 breaking an unlucky Jonathon Evans.

Nigel Owen put a second point on the board for the home side with an excellent break over Ron Phillips with Eddie Cunnington then breaking Brian Thomas to put the Con 6-2 ahead. The final leg went the way of the away side with Chris Price 135 successful­ly holding over a battling Phil Bond 100 in a battle of the captains. KEVIN Hyde & Mark Virgin 100 apiece saw their throw broken in the first pairs as Matthew Quinlan & Ian Thomas 100 took the leg putting the hosts into an early lead which they then doubled with Andrew Rough 96 away & Byron Jones 105 holding over Peter Locke 100, 140 & Steve Nicholas in a great game.

The Express then pinched the final pairs leg with Brian Nicholas 80 out & Steve Haman holding over Geraint Thomas & Nigel Meek with the latter missing a double nineteen for a 118 finish as the hosts took a 2-1 lead into the match deciding singles legs.

The first singles saw a brilliant performanc­e from Matt Quinlan with a 12 dart leg of 110 away, 100, 56, 135 out on the bull in beating Dean Thomas with a hold of throw with Steve Haman holding throw with the aid of a splendid 104 out holding over Ian Thomas to put a second point on the board for the away side.

Andrew Rough 91 away then battled to a hard-fought hold over Mark Virgin for a 4-2 home lead leaving the Baili just one more point away from victory. The next leg saw Steve Nicholas 100 hold throw over Tim Charleston, who missed seven darts at a
