Owain Glyndwr, we need you now

-

AS a proud Welshman, not a rabid nationalist, I take pen to paper.

Alun Cairns says he’s fought for all things Welsh. The only time I read of this was when he suggested the second Severn Bridge should be named the Prince of Wales Bridge.

I cannot understand how our neighbours on the other side (it is as much their bridge as ours) haven’t complained. They might prefer to call it the Edward I Bridge; that was when the total subjugation of Wales began.

Mr Cairns seems to have an eye defect. He can only see eastwards.

He supports the refusal of the English Government to back the Swansea Bay Lagoon project, and the electrification of the railway to Swansea.

Oh, and our own MP for Bridgend has been very quiet on these matters and, when in the news this week, she simply wanted to spend more money on the English military budget.

So full marks to Andrew RT Davies, who has resigned over these issues, or so we are told.

On top, we hear that Theresa May says the George Cross will be flown over Downing Street during the women’s World Cup matches, when in all probability the Welsh ladies’ team will play in the World Cup rather than the English.

Moreover, the George Cross will be flown over the Welsh Office when England play Belgium.

As a committed Christian pacifist I never thought I would be saying this but, Owain Glyndwr, we need you. Gerwyn Jones Porthcawl
