Cefn Cribwr RFC Funday: A family funday is being held on Saturday, June 30 at Cae Goff, Cefn Cribwr, 12noon.

Funfair, entertainm­ent, refreshmen­ts, face painting and fun rugby tournament­s.

Entry is free and is being held in remembranc­e of Jeff ‘Feffy’ Lewis.

BAVO: An opportunit­y to meet Coalfields Regenerati­on Trust staff at BAVO – The Coalfields Community Grants Programme in Wales can award grants from £500 up to £7,000. The Bridgend Associatio­n of Voluntary Organisati­ons (BAVO) has arranged one-toone appointmen­ts with Coalfields Regenerati­on staff at their offices in Maesteg on Monday, July 16 for voluntary groups in Bridgend County Borough to discuss their projects and ideas that the trust could fund.

The Programme is for community and voluntary organisati­ons that can demonstrat­e strongly that a grant will impact positively on people living in the coalfield communitie­s of Wales. Grants will be awarded for projects that can be completed within 12 months and can identify clear positive outcomes for people that can be measured.

Projects will need to meet one or more of the following themes of job creation and employment support, social enterprise developmen­t, skills and training, community buildings, tackling poverty and health and wellbeing.

All matches are scheduled to start at 1pm, the Can bar will be open all afternoon, and everyone is welcome to turn up and show their support. New members are also welcome to come along to net practice at Darren Park which is on Thursdays at 6pm.

Carn Rovers A.F.C.: Recently, Carn Rovers held their annual presentati­on evening at The Wexa Club, Blaengarw and this proved to be yet another outstandin­g night, with live entertainm­ent coming from fantastic duo, Going Postal. A huge congratula­tions to everybody who received well deserved awards.

It’s hoped that Carn Rovers will soon be completing the move to their new home base at the Recreation Ground, Garreg Side. More informatio­n will follow shortly on the details of pre-season training.

Summer Songs of Praise: Many thanks to those who joined us for a delightful Songs of Praise evening at St Teilo’s, Merthyr Mawr last Sunday. It was fascinatin­g to learn how some of our Benefice congregati­on are related to hymn writers from years gone by and to learn so much about the hymns that we know so well..

Our remaining Summer Songs of Praise evenings are happening on Sunday, July 15, 5pm at All Saints, Pen-y-Fai and Sunday, August 5, 5pm at St David’s, Laleston.

Please contact Anthony if you would like a name to be added to our Benefice-wide, prayer lists. It will remain for four weeks only, after which Anthony should be contacted again if the need remains

Afternoon Tea in aid of Cancer Support: On Thursday, July 26, Jenny Morgan will be hosting one of her wonderful afternoon tea events in aid of cancer support. The tea will take place at the beautiful Llewellyn House, Court Colman, Bridgend and starts at 2pm. Entry is £5 and further informatio­n is avaiable from Jenny Morgan purchase from Monday, June 18. Berthas Bites will be providing us with food on the day, and we will have a selection of alcoholic drinks to purchase from the beer garden including cocktails! Be sure to grab your tickets!

Children’s disco every Wednesday from 5pm6.30pm. £1 entry and aged seven to 14 years.

The Wyndham Pub: Why not join them on a Tuesday night for poker. This will be every week and starts at 8pm.

Every Thursday night 9pm is our quiz and play ur cards right where you could have a chance to win £100.

Amazon Jungle Survival: A local boy from our community is trekking the Amazon jungle, sleeping in hammocks, fishing for food etc all for Dementia UK.

Stacie Lewis, of Ogmore Vale, has decided to push himself to the limit. As someone who works with dementia residents in a care home, he sees first hand the pain and sorrow that dementia causes not only to the sufferers, but also the wider family.

He also gets to see the highs and lows of those who have dementia from early diagnosis to the end stages of life.

Through education, research and personcent­red care, we can provide invaluable help to those who are diagnosed and their family and friends. Dementia doesn’t have to be the end. Let us make memories and someday find a cure.

Coffee Morning: Coffee morning at Christchur­ch Chapel Corbett Street, Ogmore Vale on Thursday, July 26, with a Cake Stall, Book Stall, China and Clothes Stalls & not forgetting a Raffle etc.

It will be from 9.30am to 10.45am. So why not join them for a coffee and its free admission.

Blackmill Over-50s: Blackmill Over-50s meet at the community centre on Wednesdays at 7pm. New members are welcome.
