St Brides School: Pupils recently won a seven-a-side football tournament against other local schoolchildren. They also won the Best Garden Competition and showed a wealth of knowledge about plants. An individual prize was awarded to Morgan Rideout as well. Congratulations to you all. In the past St Brides School have won various garden competitions, especially for the senses garden that unfortunately no longer exists.

Coastline Clean-Up: The Vale Coastal clean-up in early August at Ogmoreby-Sea saw 70 bags of waste collected from the area. Afterwards the Pelican provided much needed refreshments.

Beach Safety: As a result of the very dry weather followed by heavy rain, faults have appeared or widened and rock falls have occurred locally. Do not sit or walk under the cliffs and when walking keep to the coastal path and well away from the edge. Remember to check tide times to avoid being cut off because the water rushes in as it is not safe to climb the cliffs to try to escape. Lifeguards patrol Southerndown and Ogmore by Sea beaches at peak times during the summer.

Beach Clean-Up: Velindre Cancer Care and Keep Wales Tidy will meet volunteers at 10.30 am on Sunday, August 26 at Ogmore-by-Sea. The event is sponsored by Cowbridge businesses; The Horse and Groom will provide refreshments at 2pm and from 6pm, The Edmondes Arms will host live entertainment, an auction, raffle and barbeque.
