STM Sports were the big winners on the opening weekend of the new Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League season as they took West End to the cleaners – romping to a 12-3 victory in Division Two.

Josh Graham, Chris Worsley, Ben Al Mun and Andy Gardner were all at the double with Hishi Lama, Riccardo McKenzie, Calum Bateman and an own goal completing the rout.

Newly-promoted Bridgend Street are also up and running in Division Two after beating Abergavenn­y Town 2-1.

Jeff White put Street ahead after only 13 seconds and that was the way it stayed until the hour mark when the unfortunat­e Paul Fowler put through his own net.

However Fowler then redeemed himself by netting the winner at the right end nine minutes from time.

Caerau Ely, who were relegated from Division One at the end of last season, began their bid for immediate return there with a 3-0 home victory over Aberdare Town.

Dean Clifford, Jerome Actie and Nathan Mathias were all on target.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Elliot Morris gave AFC Llwydcoed a dream start in their clash with Division Three champions Swansea University – however goals from Nick Hyden, Adam Orme and Elliott Jones won it for the newlypromo­ted side.

Scott Armitage, Elliot Williams and Kieran Thomas scored for Aberbargoe­d Buds who started with a 3-1 home win over Caldicot Town while a Zac Osbourne goal did for Dinas Powys who they lost 1-0 against Croesyceil­iog.

Meanwhile in Division One Penybont – who finished third last season – will be hoping to be in the shake up once again this term.

Rhys Griffiths’ side opened with a 1-0 victory over Taffs Well at the Kymco Stadium with a Cullen Kin- sella goal the difference between the two sides.

It was always going to be a difficult start to life in Division One for last season’s Division Two champions Llantwit Major when they were handed a trip Haverfordw­est County first up – and so it proved with the hosts running out 2-0 victors.

First half goals from Ricky Watts and Danny Williams secured the win at Bridge Meadow for the Bluebirds, who were runners-up last season.

There was also defeat on the road for another newly-promoted side in Pontypridd Town who went down 2-1 in Gwent to Goytre.

Josh Brown and Christian Mbongompas­i got the Goytre goals in the first half with Gavin Beddard replying for the visitors in the second.

Undy Athletic were the big winners in Division One as they won 5-3 at Cwmamman United with Dan Jarman at the double.

Ton Pentre were beaten 2-1 at 10-man Afan Lido.

In Division Three Joel Woodington was the hero for Pontyclun with a hat-trick to help steer them to a 5-3 win at Panteg. Tom Tweedy and Chris Bell were also on the scoresheet.

AFC Porth, having come down from Division Two, were narrowly beaten 1-0 at home by Treowen Stars with Wayne Antoniazzi’s second half goal proving decisive.

Ely Rangers drew 1-1 at Trefelin BGC and it was the same scoreline for Treharris Athletic Western at Chepstow Town while Caerau and Trethomas Bluebirds shared the spoils after a 2-2 draw.

Shaun James and Jamie Preece scored for Caerau while Ricky Jones and Jordan Needs scored for the visitors.

Welsh League newcomers Albion Rovers drew 2-2 at Ynysygerwn.
