A WOMAN from Bridgend returned from life-changing surgery in America to find that her family home had been trashed.

Jade Owen, 20, was born with cerebral palsy which means she is a wheelchair user and in chronic pain.

Following a £37,000 donation from a mystery donor she was able to go to St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri for an operation to improve muscle stiffness.

Known as selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) the operation went well and she is now able to sit without falling and walk with assistance.

However, when she and her family got back to their Brackla home it had been trashed after a party got out of hand.

A younger family member had planned to have some friends over for a party but strangers arrived at the house when it was advertised on social media.

“There was a party that got out of hand, it is not a big house,” said Jade’s mum, Jane.

“They couldn’t handle it when friends of friends from social media came.

“They have totally trashed the place, they took advantage of the house.”

The police were called to the house and the younger family member was said to be devastated about the mess left.

When the family got home they had to begin the long process of putting their home back together.

“They had broken my Hoover and damaged the washing- machine,” said mum Jane.

“They must have taken the table out of the back to play games on.

“Coming back home from America after Jade having the operations and then having this to sort out too, it’s a nightmare – it’s exhausting.”

According to Jane, who is going to be having surgery herself soon, friends and family have rallied round to help them.

However, despite this they are racing against time and could use a little help to remove the remaining rubbish.

“Friends have come over to help and so far have filled 15 black bin bags,” she said.

“I am going to have surgery myself this week and my partner is a carer for Jade and me.

“The housing authority said it needs to be cleared up by the end of the month.

“I contacted them myself and wanted to speak to the housing officer and apologise.

“We would appeal to anyone who has a skip or a van to help take away all the rubbish, it would really help.”
