Tondu Methodist: A Harvest Songs of Praise will be held at the Wesley Church Centre Tondu (the Methodist Church on Friday, September 28 at 6.30pm. Admission is free and all are welcome. This event is part of the celebratio­ns this year for the 150th Anniversar­y of the church.

Also on Friday, September 28 and then on Saturday, September 29 from 10am-3pm, the church is again participat­ing in the Open Doors scheme which is organised by Cadw in Wales.

An exhibition commemorat­ing the Parc Slip mining disaster continues the series of events at the church over the past few years relating to the industrial heritage of Tondu and district.

A footpath and cycle track next to the church leads to the memorial fountain at the Parc Slip Wildlife Trust. Refreshmen­ts are available on both days.

Coytrahen Gardening: Coytrahen Gardening Club once again welcomed Rowland Heston as guest speaker in September.

The Gardening Club is off to Westonbirt Arboretum in October.

On Wednesday, November 14 at 7pm, at the Philip Squires community Centre Coytrahen the club host ‘An Evening with Rita Sainsbury, Medical Herbalist’.

Coytrahen Gardening Club is open to new members. Membership is £10 per year however visitors are always welcome with a £2 per visit fee.

Bryncethin Concert: The Musical Evening at the Bryncethin Memorial Hall on Friday, September 28 boasts an accomplish­ed set of performers – Garw Ladies Choir, a mixed choir ‘Anyone Aloud’, Eos, a duo of harpist plus soloist Claire Walker.

Compere is the incomparab­le Miss Felicity Watkins - Felicity organises this as a community event and its success very much depends upon local support. This could well be the best £2 you have ever spent.

Proceeding­s start at 7pm. Doors open at 6.30pm. (Tickets at door only) Proceeds in aid of local Macmillan Cancer Support Nurses.

Macmillan Coffee: On Friday, September 28, a Macmillan Coffee Day will be held between 10.30am-5pm at Carol; and Keith’s home - 164 Bridgend road Aberkenfig, call 723210. Coffee/Tea and cake £3.00 with a selection of craft items, gifts, cakes and jams to take away. Great prizes in the Grand Raffle including a vintage-style hand-made patchwork quilt and also a prize of Sunday Lunch for two at a local establishm­ent.

Evening Of Clairvoyan­ce: An evening of Clairvoyan­ce will be held on Thursday, November 6, at the Ynysawdre Community Centre, Bryn Road Tondu. Tickets £5. Doors open 6.30pm. Call Mrs Bryant on 01656 657463 or 07890 234235.

Spiritual Healing: Spiritual healing is offered each Tuesday from 6pm-7.30pm at the Ynysawdre Community Centre (at the junction of Bryn Road and Heol-yrYsgol).

There is no charge for the service but a small donation to help defray expenses is appreciate­d.
