Shops would be hit by loo closure
REGARDING the possible closing of the public toilets in John Street, Porthcawl, this is a tourist area also serving local public and many shopping visitors.
I travel to Porthcawl r regularly with friends, mainly to shop. There are two large car parks either s side of John Street and the first port of call is the public toilet there, where there is always a constant flow of people and very often queues.
Of course you can go f for a coffee and use the t toilets on the premises b but some places do not h have this facility.
However, imagine the p people of all ages, who desperately need to use a toilet, crowding into a single coffee shop toilet. I am sure it would soon cause a health hazard and a great inconvenience to small businesses.
I have used these toilets since I was eight years old and am now 79. I can’t remember them even being refurbished since then, apart from a disabled toilet being installed as a necessity.
Porthcawl council, take this convenience away and John Street shopkeepers will suffer. The nearest toilets, Griffin Park, High Tide are a great walking distance when in desperate need.
Who on earth made this decision? Everyone will want to know. Closing a public convenience in this area is shocking. Maureen Richards Bridgend
