Santa brings Christmas cheer on his visit to town
CHRISTMAS cheer arrived in Bridgend when Santa arrived for his parade through the town.
Father Christmas and his trusty reindeer flew in to meet residents before heading to his grotto at Carnegie House.
About 50 elves of all ages, including Principality Building Society staff, keep-fit instructor Sian Phillips and her class, Scouts and Bridgend council workers, followed St Nick on his parade around the town centre.
More than 100 good girls and boys met him at his grotto to make their requests for Christmas, before he switched on the town’s lights.
Bridge FM presenter Lee Jukes helped to over- see proceedings and musicians performed throughout the day.
Councillor Charles Smith, cabinet member for education and regeneration, said: “The switching-on of Bridgend’s Christmas lights is always hugely popular and offers fun for all the family to enjoy.
“I would like to thank Bridgend Town Council, local traders and CF31 BID for working in partnership to put these events together, and for helping the people of Bridgend County Borough to get into the festive spirit this Christmas.”
Santa will return to his grotto at 10am-4pm on Saturday, December 15. Entry is £6 and includes a gift and a photo oppor- tunity, with all proceeds distributed among local charities by the Bridgend Lions Club and the CF31 BID group.

The town will also turn white for the White Christmas in Bridgend event, where the public can pop along between 11am and 4pm for a snow-filled day of fun.
The Christmas market will return at the same time, offering a range of gift ideas, from bath bombs to local beers and ciders.
On Saturday and Sunday, December 21 and 22, the Welsh Christmas Feastival will showcase Welsh food and pro- duce, and includes craft stalls and Santa’s wrapping elves, who will be on hand to help make your presents look extra-festive.
