Having recently won the Porthcawl run three weeks on the trot, Williams on a first visit to Maesteg Welfare Park, stormed to victory in a toasty time of 17:26.

Runner-up Adrian Pearce clocked 20:24 from Ogmore Phoenix teammate Aled Hughes 20:26, newcomer Antony Andrus 20:44, Nicholas Finch 21:08, Nicky Bennett 21:10, Robert Lewis 21:30, Ian Llewellyn (all unattached), Paul Speyer (Brackla Harriers) 22:06 and Ryan Williams (Yr Hen Blwyf) 22:24. Libby Lavis (Brackla Harriers) was once more top female in 24:18 (15th) ahead of Kaitlin O’Neill 27:36 (23rd), Jane O’Neill (both unattached) 28:48 (27th), Nicola Prior (Ogmore Phoenix) 30:20 (29th), Emma Powell (Fareham Crusaders) 30:33 (32nd) and Sian Jenkins (Ogmore Phoenix) 30:35 (33rd). LLOYD Manning-James (Bridgend) turned in a strong performanc­e last week in the Port Talbot Half Marathon at Glyncorrwg.

He clocked 1:25:10 in an event through the Afan Forest - embracing Glyncorrwg Ponds and the old railway line to Pontrhydyf­en and back - that Matthew Rees (Swansea Harriers) won in a time of 1:13:25 from Simon Lewis (Pontypridd Roadents) 1:15:51 and James Hockin (Port Talbot Harriers) 1:17:23.

Other competitor­s from Bridgend County clubs clocked decent times, and they came from Adrian Pearce (Ogmore Phoenix) 1:25:58 (14th), Ian Ogilvie (Brackla Harriers) 1:31:40 (31st), Niki Puleio (Ogmore Phoenix) 1:34:27 (39th), Paul Warren (Old Parish) 1:43:03 (81st) and Dave Kembery (Ogmore Phoenix) 1:48:21 (120th).

The female section was won by Rachel Davies (Swansea Harriers), who came home in 1:27:05, while the local contingent was led Claire DunbarBowe­n (Ogmore Phoenix) 1:49:29 and Paula Wilfort (Cornelly Striders) 1:49:32. ALED Hughes recorded a time of 22:10 to finish 59th in the Versus Arthritis 5K event that was staged in Blackpill, Swansea.

The run along Bay Road and Blackpill Lido attracted a bumper field of 304 competitor­s, and behind Hughes came Ogmore Phoenix team-mate Nicky Harris who completed the course in 22:14 for 60th spot.

Three female members of Ogmore Phoenix also ran well – Sharon Pritchard 30:16, Debbie Bennion 30:22 and Cath Griffiths 31:37 – while Lynn Nicholls (Penybont) registered 26:10. YOUNG Bridgend Parkrun star Scarlett Hodges finished fifth in her age group at the Swansea Junior Triathlon at Penlan.

Scarlett (Bridgend Swimming Club) finished 23rd overall having completed the Swim in 4:49; Bike 8:36 and Run 3:59 for 18:39.

The event winner was Jay Abraham (Swansea Tri Sharks) in 18:01. HENRY Faizey (Solihull & Small Heath AAC) scorched to victory last Sunday in the 196th staging of Bridgend Junior Parkrun in Newbridge Fields.

In completing the course in 6:40, he got to within five seconds of the record still held by Devin Coombes (Bridgend). Prolific winner Dan May (Cornelly Striders) had to settle for a runner-up role, clocking 8:11, while the next 15 finishers were inside 10 minutes.

The list contained Leroy Griffiths (Rhondda) 8:14, Jude Jenkins pb 8:38, Daniel Cowan-Bayliss (Ogmore Phoenix) 8:43, Samuel Cubbage 8:52, top female Bryony Brace 8:52, Eliott Jenkins 9:03, Euan Jenkins (Neath Harriers) 9:15, Maddison Mustoe (Cornelly Striders), Scarlett Hodges 9:17, Theo Tooze 9:18, Sam Boyce pb 9:20, Oliver Chitty 9:40, Hollie Weaver ( Rhondda) pb 9:42, Benjamin Lewis 9:45 and Harrison Mustoe 9:51.
