Bike maintenance tips at new community hub
OGMORE Assembly Member Huw IrrancaDavies joined the children, staff and volunteers of Nantymoel Boys’ and Girls’ Club at the new community hub to take part in a free bike skills and maintenance session.
Demonstrations showed how to keep a bicycle in tip-top condition (including a cycle-driven smoothie-maker!) along with basic puncture repairs and bike maintenance.
A fantastic asset to the local community, the hub also serves as the all-new Ogmore Heritage Centre, a visitor attraction which will use the existing community route to link with Bryngarw Country Park and form the new Ogmore Valley Heritage Trail.
So now you can hire a bike at Bryngarw Country Park, cycle (or walk) up the Heritage and cycle trail all the way up to Nantymoel along the Ogmore Valley.
Then pump up your tires and have a cuppa and a cake at the café in the new Nanty (Mem) Boys and Girls Club and Community Hub.
Following the visit, Huw Irranca-Davies AM said: “It was great fun joining the children, staff and volunteers of Nantymoel Boys’ and Girls’ Club at one of their morning sessions in the new community and heritage hub.
“The people who work and volunteer at the hub are a credit to the local community and it’s wonderful to see this fantastic asset being used.
“They are always looking for volunteers to help with the Boys’ and Girls’ Club sessions, the cafe and other activities, so if you are retired or have any spare time on your hands, please get in touch because they’d love your help.”
