Rugby Match Report: Pontycymmer 14 - Cwmtwrch 14

Pontycymmer started the 2019/20 season with a bang, fielding a team packed out with big guns, including props Ricky Griffiths and Craig Hitchings, lock Lloyd Webb and centre Ryan John, and they did not disappoint.

It was the home side that looked good in the opening quarter, burly wing Dave Upton in top form, carrying like a train and crossing out wide for the opening try which pivot Corey Harris then converted. Back came the visitors with a penalty, and at half time the score was 7-3.

Flanker, Scott Hampton and replacement second row, Danny Griffiths both put in big second half performances, and Upton was again in the limelight, looking like Casey Jones as he grabbed his second try to complete a match brace, with Harris once again adding the extras.

However, at the end of the 80 minutes there was nothing to separate the sides.
