This will be held this Wednesday, December 11 at 7pm. Admission free but there will be a collection on the night.

Porthcawl Rotary Christmas Tree Festival:

One of Porthcawl’s most popular Christmas

Events will be held at All Saints’ Church in Victoria Avenue between Tuesday, December 3 and Sunday, December 8, when around sixty brilliantl­y decorated Christmas trees placed there by schools, organisati­ons and businesses in the Porthcawl area will be on display. Trees can be viewed between 11am and 5pm every day (Sunday, 11.30am - 4pm).

During the Festival itself, Porthcawl Rotary will be hosting the

Rotary Young Musician Competitio­n on Wednesday, December 4 at 7pm and on Thursday, December 5 they will host the 2019 Festival Concert which will include performanc­es by the local Urdd Choir as well as by local choir

Sounds Familiar. This is on Thursday, December 5 at 7pm.

NB that entry to view the trees and to attend the Young Musician Competitio­n and the Festival Concert is also free. Tea/Coffee and raffle tickets will be available as usual.

Rotary Christmas

Postal Delivery: Watch out for shops who have embraced the scheme which caters for the delivery of local mail ie in the CF36 area by Rotary members at a cost of 25p. Stamps and Rotary Post Boxes are available in the following shops and the scheme will continue until the last post on Monday, December 9. All profits will be distribute­d to local charities.

The stamps can be bought and cards posted at the following stores: DH Edwards (TV), Well Street; Walters Shoes, John Street; Greetings at Maple, John Street (formerly Jane’s); Stationery Hill, Station Hill; Lifestyle Express, New Road; Parc Stores, Cilparc; Nottage Stores, Nottage; The Potting Shed, Newton and General Stores, Rest Bay.

Please remember that cards can only be posted at the stores, and that they are only delivered to CF36 addresses.

A Christmas Fayre At Trinity: The Porthcawl Lions Club have organised a Christmas Fayre in Trinity Church hall in Porthcawl on Friday, December 13 starting at 9.30am and there will be stalls with bric a brac, books and refreshmen­ts: other charities or crafters who would like to have a table there and want more informatio­n should contact Colin on 01656 857109. The Porthcawl Befriendin­g Group: The Porthcawl Befriendin­g Group provides free activities for lonely people and those who want to befriend them. Free tea/coffee while chatting around a table, free bingo and table games, beginners Health and Wellbeing

Porthcawl Weekly Table Top Sale: Griffin Park,

New Road, Porthcawl, CF36 5DF. This is a weekly event held every Friday at Griffin Park Hall in

New Road with doors open between 8am and 12noon.

There are always stalls with Books, Games, CD’s, DVD’s and much more.

Re- freshments are available on the day and if you want a table to sell things yourself, then tables are available at £5 for the morning.

Porthcawl Veterans Hub: The Veteran’s Hub offers a NAAFI Break on Saturday mornings at 11am to all ex-servicemen: It is held in the Porthcawl Wellbeing Centre adjacent to the tennis courts and bowling club at Griffin Park and is a place where veterans can meet with other veterans, raise their problems and get advice in a pleasant and convivial atmosphere.

Its Ok To Talk: Andy’s Man Club is a registered charity which provides a peer to peer support group for men with the aim of cutting the number of suicides of young men.

The group meets in Porthcawl RFC off South Road (CF36 3DA) every Monday evening (except bank holidays).

Porthcawl Museum And Historical Society: Santa’s Post Office is open for business, and there is now an exhibition of Toys open until Christmas.

Santa’s grotto has started, but you will have to check the posters outside the Museum to obtain details of times and days they are open.

Finally, on the Christmas front the Museum is holding a Christmas Coffee Morning with homemade mince pies on Friday, December 6th starting at 10.30am in the YMCA.

Porthcawl Community Singers Present - A Midwinter Christmas

Night: The Porthcawl Community Singers are producing their Annual Christmas Concert in All Saints Church Porthcawl on Saturday, December 7 at 7pm.

The Guest soloists are Chordis Caerlion

Harp Ensemble, Tom Williams on percussion, David Rayner- Tenor and Soprano, Ann Thomas, both of these singers are from the choir.

The Musical Director and principal Harpist-will be Angharad Edwards and the choir will be accompanie­d by Sheila Miles on piano and organ.

There will be a raffle and mince pies and wine in the interval.

Last Night Of The Stoneleigh: A Christmas Cracker - This will be held in the Showdome at Parkdean’s Resort Trecco Bay in Porthcawl on Saturday, December 14.

It is being held to raise money for the Emyr

Owen Branch of LATCH and the resident DJ’s from the Stoneleigh Club will be there along with a Freddie Mercury Tribute Act.

Harmony Christmas Concert: Harmony Ladies Choir are having their Charity Christmas Concert in aid of raising money for this years charity which will be The Alzheimer’s Society.

If you would like to come and enjoy an evening of music, laughter, sherry and mince pies to help you get into the spirit of Christmas.

Parish of Llangynwyd with Maesteg - Christmas tree and choir festival

2019 – St Michaels & All Angels church, Maesteg, Thursday, December 5 to Saturday, December 7.

Throughout the festivall, as well as the fantastic display of trees, there are various stalls in both the church and crypt selling fair trade products and various craft items.

Tea, coffee and mince pies are also being served in St Michaesls crypt, raffle tickets are £1 per ticket and are on sale in the weeks leading up to and throughout the festival.
