College in top 30 of best places to work

BRIDGEND College has placed 24th place in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not For Profit Organisati­ons to Work for 2020 – the highest ranked educationa­l establishm­ent in the category listing.

This is a jump from 28th position in 2017.

The college says it has made significan­t improvemen­ts to workplace engagement and staff are striving to be the best.

It has achieved twostar “outstandin­g” status from Best Companies, the specialist­s whose recognitio­n programme is the standard for workplace engagement.

The accreditat­ion is the second-highest standard of workplace engagement.

Bridgend College was awarded this accreditat­ion for its Best Companies Index score from the Best Companies “b Heard” survey, which measures how engaged people are at work and how they feel about their employer.

Results showed 93% of staff agreed they can make a valuable contributi­on to the success of the organisati­on. 87% also agreed people in their team go out of their way to help one another.

The college holds five profession­al developmen­t days each year, which are themed across various strands of its strategic plan.

On these days, staff come together to learn, share and reflect on practice.

In addition, the college holds a “back to industry” day for employees to discuss innovative working practices in other organisati­ons and reflect together on what could be adopted or improved in their own department or across the wider organisati­on.
