Prices revealed for Mazda’s first EV

THE first all-electric car to come from Mazda – the MX-30 – will be priced from £30,495 when it arrives in the UK early next year.

With the current Government subsidy for low emission vehicles that takes the cost down to £26,995 for the limited run of First Edition models.

Prices for the rest of the range are still to be announced and the run of First Edition versions of the MX-30 will be restricted to 500.

The car is Mazda’s first pure EV and according to the Japanese company it has a range of 124 miles on a full charge.

Performance details are yet to be released but are expected to be around nine seconds for the 0 to 60mph sprint with a top speed in the region of 93mph.

The MX-30 has an unusual door arrangement with the front doors opening forward to an angle of 82 degrees, while the rear doors open backwards to an angle of 80 degrees.

It is a layout similar to that used by Mazda on its rotaryengined RX-8 sports coupe of some ten years ago.

Those ordering a Mazda MX-30 First Edition will also qualify for a free wall box home charger, while the car is equipped with both a Type 2 mode two charge cable for three-pin plug charging and a Type 2 mode three charge cable for AC charging via home or public charge points.

Additionally, the DC socket allows for rapid charging up to 50Kw. In this charge mode a charging time of 30 to 40 minutes can deliver up to 80 per cent battery charge.
