Schoolgirl cops a sound role in sweets advert
HARIBO released its latest Kids Voices TV advert earlier this month – and it features the voice of a schoolgirl from Maesteg.
Reegan Davies is only eight years old but has already started to make a name for herself in the entertainment world.
Since starting out at the age of three, the Cwmfelin Primary School pupil has walked the catwalk during London Fashion Week, flown to South Africa to film a campaign with Nivea and has even tested toys for Tomy UK.
And now the budding actress, who is also a student at the Mark Jermin Stage School, has landed her dream job – staring in the new cops and robbers Haribo advert.
Reegan’s mum, Lisa Davies, said: “I’m so proud of her. Every time the advert comes on the TV I could burst with pride. For everyone who knows Reegan, it’s obvious that it’s her.”
The 20-second advert, which will be on air throughout the year, shows two police officers on a routine job in their car.
Reegan does the voiceover for the police officer on the right.
Their imaginations come to life when one of the officers opens a bag of Haribo Starmix, inspiring his colleague to release his “inner child”.
The duo use the Starmix sweets to make up an elaborate tale of cops and robbers.
Reegan, who wants to be an actress, pop star and scientist when she grows up, said: “It was really cool. I liked meeting the other girl and, afterwards, they gave us Haribo party bags.
“All my friends at school have watched it – and my teachers.
“It was my dream job.”
Lisa, 33, said that all the money Reegan makes from her acting work is being saved for when she turns 18.
She said: “We went to the audition in London back in September, there were hundreds of kids there. She did so well to get the part.
“She even came up with the plot herself.
“As part of the audition, she was asked to make up a scenario and she came up with the cops and robbers idea and incorporated the Haribo sweets into it.
“When we got the call back to say she had the part, the woman also said they had chosen Reegan’s idea. It’s just brilliant.
“She loved filming it and it’s definitely one of her biggest jobs so far.”
