First patients at old care home

-

A FORMER care home in Brynmenyn has received its first patients, helping to free up hospital beds during the pandemic.

Abergarw Manor has been refurbished to provide additional beds to support the Princess of Wales Hospital.

TV PRESENTERS Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have sent a video message thanking Welsh NHS staff who are working hard during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The much-loved duo recorded the lovely message to staff at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend after NHS workers got in touch with the pair’s management team.

The video, which was filmed from their homes, opens up with the following message from Ant: “Hi everybody, Ant and Dec here, we just wanted to send the message to all the staff at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.”

Before Dec added: “We just wanted to say thank you so much for all the hard work you’re doing every day on behalf of the whole country and we would like to send you lots and lots of love, keep up the good work.”

The video, which has been uploaded to social media, has since been shared thousands of times with many people sharing their appreciation to Ant and Dec for the short clip.

Ant and Dec are not the only celebrities sending a message to NHS staff.

Last month EastEnders actor Danny Dyer and comedian Keith Lemon also recorded emotional messages to staff working at the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil and the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.

They join Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure and Welsh filmmaker Jonny Owen who showed their appreciation for workers at Prince Charles Hospital in a joint message.
