Staged at the Brynhill club in Barry, both players totalled 144 after 36 holes with James taking the title following three extra holes.

James fired 71, 73 while Mullooly – who has recently won competitions at Southerndown playing off an away handicap – carded 74, 70.

They finished six shots clear of Ollie Young (Radyr), who signed for back-to- back rounds of 75, while Pyle & Kenfig star Tom Peet picked up the Colt Cup following scores of 80, 74 that saw him finish 14th overall. WEST OF ENGLAND U16’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Harriet Lockley shot a ladies course record last week at the Lilley Brook club in Cheltenham on the way to winning the West of England U16’s Open Amateur Championship.

Harriet, who recently joined Royal Porthcawl but remains a member of the Isle of Wedmore club in Somerset, recorded a 66 in the second round.

Her sizzling 18 holes contained an eagle and six birdies while she hit 15 greens in regulation and only took 28 putts.

The 15-year-old Millfield student had previously carded a 71, and she lifted the Ken Newman Salver on the application of a score-balancing adjustment that was applied for boys and girls results.

The victory was by two shots over Luke Perkins (Frilford Heath), who finished on 139 (69, 70).

And due to her age, she’ll be able to return next year in a bid to defend the title.

JAMEGA PRO GOLF TOUR

MATTHEW Roberts (Royal Porthcawl) finished in a tie for 33 rd place on the latest Jamega Pro Golf Tour event at Glen Gorse in Leicestershire.

Playing as an amateur, he recorded rounds of 70, 76 for two-over par 146 to finish two shots in front of Royal Porthcawl colleague Oliver Brown (71, 77),who was tied 42nd.

The event was won by Sam Done on 10-under par 134 (70, 64), and the victory was by two shots over five players.

With Bridgend County going into local lockdown mode last week, golf clubs made a swift response in setting up reciprocal arrangements for members living outside the boundary to carry on playing.

Pyle & Kenfig have arranged for members to play at either Southerndown, Clyne, Radyr, Creigiau or Llanishen.

And Coed-y-Mwstwr, who already had reciprocal arrangements with St Athan and Mond Valley in Clydach, have added Southerndown to the list.
