TIME to get your toes continually sandy living at this very special beachside bungalow on the coast.

In fact the property is located so close to the coast, the beach is literally the next-door neighbour.

Pull up outside and the palm trees swaying in the garden are the first clue of the special seaside location, closely followed by the ice cream van on the corner of the street and the slipway down onto the beach over the road.

The beach bungalow is located on the outer edge of Porthcawl, directly next to Newton Beach, on a corner plot, so there are sea views to enjoy front and centre, and even from the rear of the property; the bonus of living at the end of the street.

Over the stone garden wall, cross the beachside road and there is the entrance to the beach, with most sunny days the temptation of an ice cream van in the beach car park to distract you before you hit the sands and dip your toe in the water.

According to website visitwales.com, Blue Flag award-winning Newton Beach is the most easterly beach at the popular seaside town of Porthcawl.

When the tide is out the large sandy beach stretches for almost three miles and reveals a network of rock pools to discover.

There are walks around the coast that eventually end up at the mouth of the river Ogmore and the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes, a designated site of special scientific interest, although the possible need to clamber over rocks might deter some people.

The large beach backs onto the Newton Burrows sand dunes and is a popular beach with families, horse riders and dog walkers and also with people keen on water activities including surfing, wind surfing and jet skiing.

From the beach it is about a 10-minute walk to the picturesque village of Newton. The village also claims to have the oldest pub in the area, the Jolly Sailor.

With Newton in one direction, in the other, at the other end of the road, there is one of the entrances to Trecco Bay Holiday Park, the area’s popular static caravan site.

The chalet-style bungalow is painted a calming pale blue, most likely paying homage to its seaside neighbour.

According to the estate agent selling the property, the current owners have extensively modernised the home.

Through the pretty arched front door, a four or five-bedroom home awaits you.

The entrance hall itself is light, airy and full of charm, boasting beautifully restored parquet flooring and a solid wood staircase to the bedrooms on the upper floor.

To the left of the entrance hall is one of the bedrooms which has a handy cloakroom next door.

This is also the direction to travel to find the family room, which has the bonus of double doors out onto a patio in the rear garden.

And then there’s the heart of the home – the kitchen breakfast room.

This inviting space is bathed in sunlight from the two windows overlooking the garden. The kitchen leads to a useful utility space directly next door and there’s also a door in the corner that leads to a vast living room.

Up those solid stairs and there are three double bedrooms hiding in the roof space and they are as spacious as the rest of the house.

As with the other rooms in this abode, there is plenty of space up here, as well as the best sea views.

The master bedroom runs the whole depth of the house, from front to back, and includes an ensuite bathroom and walkin wardrobe.

The family bathroom next door is a sizeable space easily accommodating a four piece suite.

Overall, this house by the sea is very versatile with many flexible spaces, the only aspect of this home that’s not flexible is the beach location, and who would want to change that?

The chalet bungalow by the beach is for sale with Peter Alan Porthcawl for offers in the region of £650,000.
