Burglars with knives threaten family in home

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after three men with knives forced their way into a family home.

The armed men gained entry to a house in Pontycymer, near Bridgend, and threatened the family living there with knives while repeatedly shouting “where’s the money?”.

One of the occupants of the house was assaulted during the incident, which occurred on Friday, January 29, at around 6.20pm in Victoria Street. At least one of the men is understood to have an Irish accent.

South Wales Police have issued a new appeal for witnesses who saw a blue Fiesta or black Peugeot in the area around the time of the incident. It is understood the men may have travelled to the location in the vehicles. Two 20-year-old men arrested in connection with the aggravated burglary have since been released under investigat­ion.

A statement from South Wales Police said: “Police in Bridgend are appealing for informatio­n following an aggravated burglary which occurred at approximat­ely 6.20pm in Victoria

“Three men forced their way into a house by assaulting one of the occupants. They kept shouting, ‘where’s the money?’ as they threatened the family with knives.

“At least one of the men are understood to have spoken in an Irish accent.

“It is also understood that the men may have travelled to the location in two cars, a blue Fiesta and a black Peugeot.

“Anybody who may have informatio­n about the incident is urged to contact 101 and give ref *033890.”
