Group appeal for food donations for struggling families

-

BRIDGEND Food For Bridgend Families is appealing for food donations to help make up food parcels.

A group of Bridgendbased volunteers are giving their time, to collect donations, make up food parcels and deliver them to those who are struggling to make ends meet in the Bridgend community.

The group who call themselves Bridgend Food For Bridgend Families are constantly using up all of your donations and each week finds themselves requiring more, as new families are coming forward for help.

One of the founder members, Deborah Richards, was hit with chronic pain and diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a number of years ago.

Deborah said: “A number of years ago I was hit with chronic pain, and diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It changed my life completely. I am registered disabled, can’t stand for long, can’t walk far, and I don’t drive anymore. So being a part of this wonderful group, means that I can help make a difference.

“We are truly grateful to the Bridgend community for the support that they are showing us. Without a constant flow of food donations, we could not do what we are doing.

“We are currently able to help 30 plus families on a weekly basis, and the number keeps rising. The pandemic has affected so many families, and now people like you and I are struggling to make ends meet. It’s so terribly sad, it breaks my heart.”

They are asking for donations of: tea coffee sugar tinned meat (tuna, corned beef etc)

tinned veg (beans, sweetcorn, carrots etc) UHT milk squash cereal pasta rice part baked bread toiletries

They have four drop-off points, where people can take their donations: Cefn Glas, Broadlands, Kenfig Hill, and Pencoed.

They can also arrange collection if necessary.

If you, or someone you know are struggling, please get in touch.
