Candidates selected in battles for Senedd seat
ON May 6, voters in Wales will choose the people they want to represent them in the Senedd.
The elections will see 60 people selected to be Members of the Senedd.
Every voter gets two votes, one for their constituency and one for their region.
Every constituency elects one person and four people are chosen from each region.
The person who wins the most votes on the constituency list is voted in, the regional list uses a form of proportional representation.
In the last election, in 2016, Labour won 29 seats, Plaid Cymru 12, the Conservatives 11, Ukip had seven seats and there was one Liberal Democrat elected.
The count will take place on Friday, May 7, not overnight as is usual.
Bridgend
Bridgend will have a new MS after this election. Former First Minister and the MS since 1999, Carwyn Jones, is not standing again. Sarah Murphy is the Labour hopeful aiming to replicate his 20.9% majority from 2016. The 2021 candidates are:

Ogmore has always had a Labour representative in the Senedd.
Huw Irranca-Davies has been MS since 2016. He had previously been MP for the constituency in Westminster.

Jane Hutt has been successful in every election since 1999 and has always represented the Vale of Glamorgan for Labour.
In 2016, she received 14,655 votes - 38.8% of the vote. The Conservative candidate in that election was Ross England and he got 36.7% of the vote.
