Former nursery is a fun and feature-packed place to live

IT’S not every day you find an old nursery turned six-bedroom home up for grabs. But hidden away in Pen-Y-Fai, Bridgend, that’s exactly what’s on the market right now.

The £900,000 home is huge, with two kitchens and outbuildings, and also looks right across at a church. There is a cheerful, bright style carried throughout the property, and little reminders of its history.

And it is safe to say the former nursery has changed a fair bit from how it used to be.

Here are a few pictures to give you a sneak peek into what the unique home looks like on the inside.

There are lots of open-plan aspects to the house, with rooms such as the lounge and games area merged into one, and a unique feel to some of the old features of the nursery like the Alice in Wonderland mural on the wall in the same room. There is also a feature fireplace, a fitted carpet and radiators.

The kitchen is a little more traditional and is fitted with a range of high and low-level wooden units that make it look very cosy and welcoming. There are also double-glazed windows to the rear, vinyl cushion flooring and access to the side of building and an additional downstairs toilet.

There are all sorts of little spaces with lots of character as well, like a room with a spiral staircase.

“The top floor looks homely, with plenty of wooden beams and large bedrooms, but one of the most surprising features is arguably the balcony with astro-turf – not what you would necessarily expect to find, but somehow it seems to work.

The property even comes with a wood pergola which currently houses the hot tub, large pool area with an above-ground steel-framed solarheated pool. On the property listing, the estate agents Yopa note that the pool is not built into the ground and can be dismantled if needed.

To add to the fun, outside there is a play area with feature walls and fencing as well as a pathway leading to the front of building. So if anyone who buys this house has children, it looks like they are going to have no trouble keeping them entertained.

There are also old shelters still there, which are another giveaway of what the old nursery was like. There is access from the road to the side drive with parking for more than 10 cars.

There is a feature stone wall and raised decked area. A pathway leads to the rear garden which contains many plants and shrubs and is opposite woodland.

And although it looks like a modern, fresh house, Yopa reminds people: “This historic property was originally built back in 1898.

“It has been refurbished to a high standard and has kept all of its charm and character which only truly comes with a period property.”
