- EMMA JOHNSON IT’S CATTRALL OR NOTHING

We need to talk about Kim Cattrall. No, not in a bad way... I wouldn’t dream of dissing the Sex and the City icon.

But in case you haven’t seen it, the 67-year-old appears in a recent campaign for Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand, Skims. In one shot she wears a nude bodysuit, in the other a slinky black dress.

Asked in the promo film how she feels about Skims, Kim responds “freakin’ fabulous”. And that’s exactly how she looks.

The Skims ad dropped shortly after Kim did the rounds at Paris Fashion Week.

There she pulled focus on the Balmain front row dressed in a stunning structured black suit by the fashion house’s creative director Olivier Rousteing.

Earlier this week, Kim was back in the spotlight when she stole the show at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards in London.

There to present one of the evening’s awards, the actress looked fierce in another Balmain design, this time a sharpshouldered animal print sequin number.

It was exactly the sort of outfit you could imagine her on-screen alter ego Samantha Jones tearing up the red carpet in.

Luckily the Liverpool-born star, who briefly returned to her most famous role for a blink-and-you’llmiss-it appearance in the second season of And Just Like That, has no problem with comparisons to the PR exec.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after the Skims launch, she said: “I think for the rest of my life there will always be that association, and I take it as a fantastic compliment. She was such a wonderful character, but she’s part of me. I created her.”

And I am very glad she did. Imagine the show without Samantha... um, actually you don’t have to imagine.

Among the maneater’s many killer one-liners in SATC, she once told Carrie, following a particularly racy scene, “I will not be judged by you or society. I will wear whatever I want...”.

The last few words of that quote are too rude to print in a family newspaper but the line was in my head when I saw Kim at the Harpers event.

The thigh-skimming hemline on that Balmain frock certainly put paid to any outdated suggestions that there is an upper-age limit on short skirts.

There is a saying, ‘you have to see it, to be it’.

Well I can say that seeing Kim, three years shy of turning 70, showing that much leg – albeit encased in very much on-trend sheer black tights – made me reconsider retiring my own minis. You go girl!
