Euro star Rossiter relished his return

- By CHRIS JACK

JORDAN ROSSITER was delighted to finally make his Rangers debut after returning from international duty with England.

The midfielder was a key part of the Three Lions outfit who reached the semi-finals of the Under-19 European Championships this summer.

Aidy Boothroyd’s side were beaten by Italy in the last four as they missed out on a final spot, but Rossiter still had a game to look forward to as he returned to Glasgow ahead of the Betfred Cup clash against Stranraer at Ibrox.

He was given a secondhalf run-out as he replaced Joey Barton in the middle of the park and the former Liverpool kid relished his first appearance in Light Blue.

Rossiter said: “It was some feeling running out there. I signed back in May and I’ve waited a long time to make my debut because I’ve been away with England at the Euros.

“I’ll be honest; I did want to be back here and getting cracking and meet all the lads. It’s been a long time and I’m just happy that I’m here.

“It was a great reception, the fans here are brilliant. I knew that because everyone always talks about Rangers fans and how big they are and that they are one of the best in the world.

“The atmosphere was unbelievable, it’s probably the one of the biggest crowds that I’ve played in front of and the atmosphere was great and all of the players did well tonight.

“It was really good to get on and get your first few touches of the ball so you can work your way into the game and I loved every minute of it.

“All of the lads have been brilliant at helping me to settle in.

“It’s a great city, and I’m looking forward to staying here in the future.”
