Consultation bid over 700 homes
MORE than 700 homes look set to be built in Renfrewshire should the council back a £34 million grant scheme.
The high quality properties, which would be built in areas where people want to live, would be a mix of council and housing association properties and be built over the next five years.
Members of the council’s housing and community safe- ty board are expected to give the green light to a four-week consultation when they meet tomorrow.
It will involve the public, housing associations, developers and other key partners being asked their views on the proposal.
Board convener Tommy Williams said: “Quality affordable housing helps to improve people’s quality of life. Renfrewshire Council is committed to providing highquality homes that people can afford to rent and buy.
“It is about creating homes people want to live in, in places where they want to live.”
Affordable housing includes a range of options for people who are looking for a home to rent or buy.
This includes new council and housing association homes for rent, low cost home ownership/shared equity schemes and intermediate, mid-market rental.
Projects planned over the next five years include 100 new council homes and 100 new housing association homes in Bishopton, 100 new council homes at Johnstone Castle and 67 affordable homes in Renfrew.
